CARLSBAD — Carlsbad commemorates National Trails Day on June 7 with a trail volunteer event at the Lake Calavera Preserve. Volunteers should meet at 8:30 a.m. at the dam/spillway located at the east end of the lake just off of the preserve’s main entrance on Tamarack Avenue east of Strata Drive. Trail work will include trail sign repairs and new sign installations, weed removal, trail erosion repairs and other minor improvements. Volunteer are advised to wear close-toed shoes, a hat and sun screen. Tools for the trail work will be provided by the city as well as water and healthy snacks.
