CARLSBAD: Summer splash kicks off season of family events

CARLSBAD — The city of Carlsbad kicks off a series of summer events at the Alga Norte Aquatic Center starting June 6. Splash Into Summer, 5 to 9 p.m., is family-friendly event to preview what the aquatic center has to offer this summer, including classes, camps, movies and other events. Participants can learn about masters swim, water fitness classes, swimming lessons for all ages, individual and family passes, and aquatic sports and junior lifeguarding camps. Tickets: $8 per person; one child age 3 and under may be admitted free with a paying adult. Other events at the center: Float N’ Flick on June 27 and Aug. 22, where attendees can float on air mattresses while enjoying a movie under the stars. On July 25, parents can have an evening away while their kids enjoy Splash Bash: A Parents Night Out. Address: 6565 Alicante Rd. in Carlsbad, open seven days a week. Daily entrance to the pool is $5 per adult, $3 per child and $2 per spectator. Monthly passes are available. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
