ENCINITAS — The San Dieguito Heritage Museum offers residents the chance to learn about the lives of pioneer families firsthand through its Make Your Own Rag Doll program, every Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m., throughout February. In an era without computers or video games, pioneer children had to use their imaginations to stitch their own dolls using whatever they could find: socks, discarded rags, bottles, flowers, cornhusks and vegetables, according to a Heritage Museum news release. The ongoing Make Your Own Rag Doll program gives residents the opportunity to learn a bit of pioneer history through making such dolls. The museum’s exhibits will be open during the activity times with docents to guide visitors through the history of the San Dieguito region. The San Dieguito Heritage Museum is located at 450 Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas. More information: 760-632-9711. Online: www.sdheritage.org
