North County Health Services receives $75K grant

North County Health Services has received a $75,000 grant as part of a program for expanding access to improve healthcare, the organization announced July 2.

The Blue Shield Expanding Access through Team Care award provides funding from July 1 to June 30, 2015, with the goal of improving the development and implementation of care teams, according to the announcement. The award is funded by the Blue Shield of California Foundation.

Briana Cardoza, NCHS’s senior director of program planning and grants, said the funds will help North County Health Services implement team-based models designed to expand access to primary care in the region.

“We are excited to adopt these models of care because it’s been shown that team-based care positively predicts satisfaction and engagement among patients,” Cardoza said in the announcement. “NCHS is excited to be able to provide the best experience possible to our patients.”

North County Health Services is a private nonprofit group that serves more than 60,000 patients annually at 10 community health centers in Encinitas, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Oceanside and Ramona, in addition to two mobile clinics. More information: 760-736-6767. Online: www.nchs-health.org.
