CARLSBAD — The city of Carlsbad celebrates National Trails Day on June 6 with a demonstration trail cleanup and a 1-mile educational hike along La Costa Glen Trail. The self-guided hike will include exhibits about the city’s trails, hiking information, how to become a trail volunteer and facts about the local plants and animals that can be observed while hiking the city’s trails. There will also be presentations by naturalists and other speakers who will address the nature of the trail and its surroundings. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Water and healthy snacks will be provided. The La Costa Glen trail is located in southwest Carlsbad next to an open space corridor along Encinitas Creek.
