Western-wear retailer Tecovas opened its first North San Diego County store on Friday, Oct. 31, one of two long-established American clothing brands now on the tenant list of The Forum Carlsbad.
Abercrombie & Fitch is expected to open in November, shopping center management announced in a news release Oct. 29.
Tecovas, founded in Austin, Texas, in 2015, is known for handcrafted leather boots and apparel inspired by traditional Western design. Abercrombie & Fitch is recognized for its denim, outerwear and casual clothing, and has seen a resurgence in recent years as it reaches new audiences through social media and updated merchandising.
Ward Kampf, president of Northwood Retail, which manages The Forum Carlsbad, said both stores reflect the community’s mix of coastal and equestrian influences. “Tecovas has been a first-mover and major catalyst in the Western category,” Ward Kampf, president of Northwood Retail, which manages The Forum Carlsbad, said in the news release. “With North County’s equestrian roots and proximity to Del Mar Racing and the Breeders’ Cup, it’s a natural fit for our community. Abercrombie & Fitch has also seen a huge resurgence, driven by its focus on fashion, merchandising, and renewed relevance through pop culture and social media.”
The Forum Carlsbad continues to expand its mix of national and local retailers. Recent additions include The Henry restaurant, which opened earlier this year.
