California State University San Marcos President Karen Haynes retired in June after five decades of working in higher education. Among her accomplishments over the years, she cites being able to lead two universities as a president. Haynes said this is a rarity in both the number of years served and for a woman to work in two presidential roles in academia.

Palliative care institute at CSU San Marcos adds Shiley to its name

A key California State University institute based at Cal State San Marcos has added prominent San Diego philanthropist Darlene Marcos Shiley to its name after a significant donation. The renamed Shiley CSU Institute for Palliative Care became official this month in recognition of Shiley’s $2.6 million gift.

Rhoades School announces second Encinitas campus for middle grades
