The MiraCosta Community College District received what it called a “good bill of health” on a recent financial audit, college officials announced Jan. 29.

This marks the seventh year that MiraCosta has earned a clean audit designation and the third year it’s received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its annual budget from the Government Finance Officers Association, according to a district news release.

The district’s Board of Trustees was presented the news for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2017, according to the announcement.

“On behalf of my colleagues on the board, we are grateful for the trust the community has instilled in the district and will continue to uphold sound fiscal management as stewards of taxpayer dollars,” said board President David Broad said in the announcement.

The annual audit was completed by Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co. LLP under state Education Code section 84040 and California Board of Governors regulations, the college stated in its news release.

“The clean audit reflects the work of staff to diligently make sure our financial statements accurately represent the district’s fiscal reality,” Charlie Ng, MiraCosta College’s vice president of Business and Administrative Services, said in the announcement. “The college is committed to excellent financial management and rigorous internal controls in order to best serve our students and community.”
