Beach areas are under a hazard statement from the National Weather Service warning of possible lightning Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The warning, which runs from 3 to 5 p.m., was issued after a countywide heat advisory for San Diego as temperatures hit the low to mid 80s on the coast and 90s inland.

The temperature hit 81 degrees in Encinitas as of 12:45 p.m., with a forecast high of 82. A humidity level of 63% made the “feel like” temperature 84 degrees, according to the Weather Channel.

Moisture from the south will continue to bring high humidity levels and a 10% to 30% chance of showers in local mountains and deserts, according to the Weather Service.

Downtown San Diego hit 82 degrees as of 12:45 p.m., with a forecast high of 85. The heat advisory is set to expire at 6 p.m., the Weather Service stated. Officials recommend limiting sun exposure and drinking plenty of fluids.
