Local drivers will want to take note of planned overnight closures of Manchester Avenue in Encinitas Sept. 8-13, officials announced.

The closures, which run 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., affect eastbound and westbound lanes under Interstate 5, where Caltrans and SANDAG crews are removing construction support structures from a newly built freeway bridge, according to a SANDAG project update. The process is part of the San Elijo Lagoon Highway Bridge Replacement Project.

While the road itself will be closed in both directions under the bridge, all I-5 on-ramps and off-ramps will remain open during the closures and will allow access to eastbound and westbound detour routes for drivers.

The construction is part of the ongoing Build NCC project, a combination of mass transit and environmental projects along the North Coast.
