Officials seek residents’ input for 2021 Encinitas housing plan update

The city of Encinitas invites residents to submit comments during January as officials finalize a state-mandated housing update.

Community comments are part of a review process for drafts of the city’s housing plan, known as a housing element, which is designed to assess Encinitas’ housing needs and solutions, according to a city announcement.

The current housing element draft includes policy updates that call for the development of 1,554 units by 2029, 838 units of which must be designated affordable housing for low-income to very low-income residents, the city’s news release explained.

Comments must be submitted by 5 p.m. Jan. 29 using one of the following methods:
