
Oceanside CA— The City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division will be offering a free Bicycle Traffic Skills Course once per month in 2015. This class is designed for people who enjoy bicycling for recreation or for those who commute to work on a bike. The class is led by the League Of American Bicyclists Certified Instructors.
The class meets twice, offering riders a classroom session and a practical road session. The classroom session meets from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The road session times and days are listed below. All classes meet at the Oceanside Library Community Rooms, located 330 North Coast Highway.
While classes are free, pre-registration is necessary.
Instruction includes
proper bike & helmet fit
safety tips for riding in traffic
techniques for navigating road hazards
emergency maneuvers
using public transit as a cyclist
your legal rights & responsibilities
Also get hands-on instruction in:
flat tire repair secrets
adjustments
minor repairs
quick fixes
Sandwiches will be provided at evening classes. 1/2 watt rear lights provided for graduates.
