Scottie Bennett of Oceanside as Isis, the Goddess, not the terrorist he was quick to point out
Oceanside CA— Yesterday was the first Sunday Concert in Heritage Park for the Summer 2016 season with a theme that was planned months ago but after recent events, couldn’t be more timely ‘Honor Our Police Day’.
The event opened with two songs, on the bagpipes, played by John A Keyes followed by a moment of silence before Taylor Tickner’s rendition of the National Anthem.
Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood along with City Council Members, Jack Feller and Esther Sanchez were on hand to present a community appreciation award to Chief Frank McCoy and the Oceanside Police Department on behalf of the Friends of Oceanside Parks.
An Oceanside Fire Department truck was on display next to OPD’s Bearcat Rescue Vehicle with firefighters and police officers giving tours and answering questions. The crowd was treated to an OPD K-9 demonstration sandwiched between a country music performance by Taylor Tickner and the diverse musical styling of pianist, Robert Parker.
Two more concerts are set for Heritage Park
