Thanks to a Grant from Las Patronas and Partnership of Lang Nissan in Mission Bay
San Diego CA—Volunteers of America Southwest (www.voasw.org) has received a donation of a Nissan 2018 NV Cargo Van thanks to a grant from Las Patronas and support from Lang Nissan in Mission Bay.
The van will be used to deliver meals to clients in recovery, veterans receiving services and adults in Volunteers of America’s mental health facilities. In addition, the organization has expanded its kitchen, which now prepares and delivers 2,400 meals a day, to serve two adult living facilities, four charter schools that combine to make up eight sites and three senior daycare centers. It will also allow the organization to expand its food service social enterprise program which provides food service training for current clients in recovery and veterans. The new transport van will make it possible to take on new charities and continue to serve all clients in Volunteers of America’s care with fresh and healthy meals.
“We would like to thank Las Patronas, a philanthropic group that has served the San Diego community since 1946, for extending their generosity to Volunteers of America Southwest,” said Gerald McFadden, President and CEO of VOASW. “Their kind donation has empowered us to purchase a much-needed food transport vehicle for our VOA Meals Program and will make an immediate impact on the clients and charity partners we serve.”
He added, “We are also incredibly grateful to Lang Nissan at Mission Bay for partnering with Volunteers of America Southwest and making it possible for our Meals Program to use this new Nissan food-transport van. We appreciate the entire team at Lang for the care and time they took to get our new vehicle accessorized to meet the exacts needs of our Meals Program.”
