Beloved eateries across San Diego County unite to raise critical funds for breast cancer services
San Diego CA— Susan G. Komen San Diego (Komen San Diego), the County’s only organization that provides services to patients, invests in critical research and advocates for change, will hold its seventh annual Dine Out for the Cure® on Thursday, Oct. 17. In the middle of Breast Cancer Action Month, local restaurants, bakeries and coffeehouses across San Diego County will unite for one day to fundraise for Komen San Diego, by donating 10 to 25 percent of their sales. These funds help Komen San Diego provide free mammograms, financial assistance, research and public policy to support breast cancer patients. Komen San Diego hopes to raise $35,000 this year, partnering with more restaurants than ever before, at nearly 50 local establishments so far.
“Each year, the San Diego community unites to end breast cancer with this one-day-only event,” said Chantal Breyfogle, Chair of Komen San Diego’s Dine Out Committee. “Having more partners than ever before allows participation to be accessible county-wide, leading to an even greater contribution. We are so thankful to the local restaurants and purveyors who have stepped up to help save lives.”

ABOUT SUSAN G. KOMEN SAN DIEGO®:
Since its inception in 1995, Susan G. Komen San Diego has invested more than $19 million to global breast cancer research and local breast health services. Susan G. Komen is the largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research outside of the U.S. government. Nearly 40 percent of our research investment is focused on metastatic disease and much of that investment has been awarded to scientists in San Diego. Locally, Komen San Diego provides free mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds, MRIs, care coordination, education and financial assistance for breast cancer patients’ most critical needs during treatment. The organization also has a robust public policy and advocacy arm to ensure healthcare access and scientific progress. Komen has set a Bold Goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. Seventy-five percent of every dollar raised in San Diego stays in San Diego County to fund breast health services for uninsured and underinsured women and their families. The remaining 25 percent funds international breast cancer research. For more information, please visit www.KomenSanDiego.org. Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram.
