Eight Arrested During AB 109 Compliance Sweep in Vista

Vista CA– The Vista Station conducted a Compliance Check and BSCC Realignment Mitigation detail as part of the Sheriff Department’s Summer Watch Program.
Members of the Vista Detective Unit with assistance from Vista COPPS Unit and the Vista Gang Enforcement Team, conducted a total of eleven compliance checks in the city of Vista and the unincorporated area of Vista.
Eight individuals, many of who are realigned offenders, were arrested and booked for a variety of violations including, Possession of Narcotics (methamphetamine and heroin), Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor and Felony warrants, Probation Violations and Parole Violations.
The operation is part of the State of California’s response to the early releases of prisoners from state prison and county jail under AB 109. Persons under the conditions of AB 109 are subject to fourth waiver conditions and are under the supervision of the County Probation Department.
The program, California AB 109, shifts the responsibility for incarcerating many low-risk inmates from the state to counties. This shift from state to county is also being called “prison realignment.” It is supposed to help relieve the California prison over crowding problem.
