Vista CA— During the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 29, 2014, patrol deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at 2286 Primerose Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult female victim who had been beaten about the head and facial area while she was sleeping.
The suspect, later identified as forty year-old Octavio Savalza, had beaten his wife with both his fists and a five pound dumbbell that was picked up by Savalza. Several children also witnessed this incident.
Suspect Savalza fled the scene. The victim was transported and admitted to Palomar hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Information was developed by patrol deputies and the suspect was subsequently arrested in San Marcos at about 5:00 AM. Vista detectives responded to assist with the follow-up investigation on this case.
Suspect Savalza was booked at the Vista Detention Facility for attempted murder, felony spousal abuse and felony child endangerment.
