
Fallbrook CA- On Tuesday March 10, 2015 at 3:10 pm 25 year-old Aaron Akira Teryua, from San Diego, was driving his 2000 Ford Focus southbound on I-15, south of the Temecula Parkway. Witnesses reported Teryua was driving at a high rate of speed prior to colliding with a truck that was pulling a trailer.
Upon the arrival of a Temecula CHP Officer, Teryua was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.
Teryua was handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle. While the officer was concluding his investigation, Treyua was able to climb into the drivers seat and drove away with the patrol car.
Through the vehicles GPS and a witness from a local tow company, the patrol vehicle was located on SR-76 near Gird Road.
Teryua abandoned the vehicle, after an off-road collision and hid in some nearby brush.
After a search by CHP Officers and several other local law enforcement agencies including the San Diego County and Riverside Sheriff’s Departments, Treyua was taken in to custody at approximately 5:45pm.
Treyua was transported to the Southwest Jail in Riverside County where he was booked on multiple charges including DUI, resisting arrest and felony vehicle theft. The incident remains under investigation.
