Oceanside CA— Shortly after 4:00pm, August 27, 2015, Oceanside Police began receiving calls regarding two people injured at the Sprinter, Crouch Street Station near the intersection of Crouch St. and Skylark Dr.

Two victims, Richard Lincoln, DOB January 25, 1987 and Trent Wyatt DOB, May 22, 1985, were attacked in a transient encampment on the southeast side of the intersection.
“Several people ran out of the encampment prior to the victims who ran from the camp to the Sprinter Station where they collapsed.” said Lt. Leonard Cosby with the Oceanside Police Department. They were treated by members of the Oceanside Fire Department then airlifted to Scripps La Jolla “due to the mechanism of the assault.” They had sustained numerous but non-life threatening injuries.

“There is no suspect information available at this time as both victims are being uncooperative as far as telling us anything.” said Lt. Cosby. The police are unsure what cutting instrument was used in the assault. One person, only identified as “Woody”, was arrested at the scene on an unrelated warrant.
The Lieutenant said because the suspect is still at large, homeowners in the area should be aware of unusual activity. “It would be wise for the public, especially in this area, that if they see something strange, somebody that has blood on them, please call us immediately.” continued the Lieutenant, “We have reason to believe that the suspect will probably have blood on him, or her, due to the nature of the attack and if people hear strange noises or see someone out of the ordinary walking up and down the street, call us immediately.” The Lieutenant added that the suspect, like the victims, is more than likely a homeless person too.
The lieutenant stated the reason for the large presence, in the area, of police officers, including the San Diego County Sheriffs ASTREA unit, was due to the size of the crime scene.
