
Oceanside CA— This morning, June 27th 2016, at approximately 8:30, Oceanside Police, Firefighters along with deputies from the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a train vs. vehicle collision on the railroad tracks at milepost marker 106.9, which is located near the intersection of Temple Heights Drive and Oceanside Blvd., in the city of Oceanside.
A westbound Sprinter train was traveling at approximately (35) thirty-five miles per hour when the engineer observed a vehicle drive southbound on Temple Heights Drive and stop on the tracks. The Sprinter train engineer immediately applied the emergency braking system and warning horn, but was unable to stop prior to striking the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
