Escondido CA— On Thursday afternoon, June 30, 2016 at about 4:43 PM, officers from the Escondido Police Department were dispatched to the area of 400 E. Washington Avenue regarding a serious injury collision. Upon arrival, officers found three vehicles involved in a collision.
Two occupants traveling in a Toyota Yaris suffered serious injuries. Life saving measures were performed by Escondido Fire Paramedics. Both victims were transported to Palomar Memorial Hospital where they later died from their injuries. The driver of the Yaris was a 39 year-old female resident of Escondido. The passenger was a 9 year-old boy.
According to witness statements and physical evidence at the scene, it appears the Toyota Yaris was attempting to make a left turn from a private driveway to eastbound Washington Ave. The Yaris collided with a Chrysler 300 that was traveling westbound on Washington Ave. The Chrysler then struck a Toyota Camry. Two occupants in the Chrysler had complaints of pain. No one in the Camry was injured.
