
Encinitas CA— Last night, February 22, 2017 just before 10:30pm, Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a BNSF Train vs. pedestrian collision. The collision occurred on the railroad track near Coast Hwy 101 and Diana Street, in the City of Encinitas.
A southbound BNSF Train was traveling at approximately 50 miles per hour when an adult female ran towards the tracks and collided with the train. The female was struck by the train and was found at the scene by her significant other.
The female was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
