Encinitas CA— This morning, August 8, 2017, at 6:28 a.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a Coaster train and pedestrian collision.
The collision occurred on the railroad tracks nearest the intersection of Santa Fe Drive and Vulcan Avenue, in the city of Encinitas.
A southbound Coaster train was traveling at approximately 50 miles per hour when a 56-year-old woman ran onto the railroad tracks in front of the train. The train went into emergency braking, but struck the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
