Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Public Library, a department of the City of Oceanside, wishes to thank its Oceanside and surrounding communities for their continued support in helping keep their public libraries safe and welcoming. In accordance with guidance from the City of Oceanside and State of California, the Library is responding to circumstances related to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation. As of today, Thursday, March 12, the Library has suspended all public-facing programs through at least the end of March. This includes all events (classes, storytimes, programs, book clubs, and the like) at Library locations or sponsored by the Library, including tonight’s program at MiraCosta College, “An Evening with Luis Alberto Urrea.” All Library locations, as of now, remain open for Library services, with regular operating hours.
Governor Newsom has mandated upon state public health experts’ input that gatherings should be postponed or canceled across California until at least the end of March. Non-essential gatherings must be limited to no more than 250 people, while smaller events can proceed only if the organizers can implement social distancing of 6 feet per person. Given this direction, the Library is not able to continue its programs for the present.

The Library hopes at this time that the public takes advantage of the abundance of online resources it offers, including electronic books, audiobooks, picture books, comics, magazines and movies, through apps such as Hoopla, Libby and TumbleBooks.
