O’side film fest announces venues

The Oceanside International Film Festival has announced its official schedule and list of venues for this August.

Sponsored by Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, the festival runs Aug. 16-19 and showcases narrative features, documentaries, shorts, animation and student works from filmmakers who have not yet signed distribution agreements and seek recognition among wider audiences, according to a film festival news release.

Movies include work by independent filmmakers from Canada, Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States, according to the organizers. The films will be screened at three Oceanside venues – Grace Chapel of the Coast (formerly Crest Theatre) with its 400-seat auditorium specially designed for movies in the 1950s, the historic Star Theatre with more than 440 stadium-style seats and no obstructed views, and a state-of-the-art new facility at MediaTech Institute, a recording arts and digital film school.

In addition to movie screenings, the festival will also offer numerous seminars. Organizers are also seeking submissions from local, student, national and international filmmakers.
