A kitchen fire early Sunday, Aug. 10, couldn’t stop Oceanside’s Fresh Start Cafe from serving customers, the eatery’s management posted on social media.
Firefighting crews from Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista responded to the blaze, which broke out just before 5 a.m. Sunday, according to an Oceanside Fire Department report. The first engine arrived within four minutes of the 4:55 a.m. call, and firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area.
“First things first — everyone is safe,” management at the popular cafe said in a Facebook update. “Yes, there was a small fire at Start Fresh Cafe, but thanks to our amazing Oceanside Fire Department and quick action from our team, it was handled fast.”
The eatery has been able to reopen and serve breakfast and lunch, they said.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and concern from our community — it means the world to us,” the post stated.
The Oceanside Fire Department and partnering agencies are investigating the fire’s cause, the department reported.
Fresh Start Cafe is located at 1034 S. Coast Highway and is open 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. all week.
