A yearlong investigation has resulted in the closure of two massage businesses after reports of alleged human trafficking, the Oceanside Police Department announced Monday, Oct. 20.
The department’s Special Enforcement Section and Vice Unit worked with the city of Oceanside’s licensing department, city attorney’s office and code enforcement to shut down the businesses after an investigation was launched in September 2024, according to a Police Department news release. Reports received from the community specifically involved prostitution.
The investigation included operations over several months that led to multiple arrests of employees at the establishments, authorities stated. Detectives also interviewed more than 20 employees who were considered victims of human trafficking. The employees declined support services at the time they were interviewed, according to the news release.
Authorities named the two accused establishments, Nirvana Spa at 3320 Mission Ave., Suite Q, and Seaside Acupressure at 560 Greenbrier Drive, #103, both of which are no longer permitted to operate within city limits and have had business licenses permanently revoked.
“These closures send a clear message that businesses engaging in illegal activity will not be tolerated in Oceanside,” Oceanside Police Department Chief Taurino Valdovinos said in the news release.
Authorities asked anyone who might have information related to such activity to call the Police Department’s Vice Unit at 760-435- 4900 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
