Locals and out-of-towners alike can travel back in time, oohing and aahing over juicy rosemary chicken set upon a beautifully crisp waffle or a Tuna Nicoise Salad topped with perfectly ripe tomatoes in one of Oceanside’s most historic buildings with the launch of brunch at newly opened, locally owned The Victorian at Hill Street.
Beginning Friday, Oct. 17, the meticulously restored Queen Anne Victorian home — one of the city’s last remaining, dating back to 1888 — will host guests Fridays through Sundays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the swoon-worthy sunlit wrap-around patio or inside the lovingly restored house itself. The restaurant has quickly become an adored hang-out in North County, boasting historic charm and Cali-Mediterranean menu with Latin influences and creative cocktails, highlighted by local ingredients.
Brunch features reimagined classics such as Shrimp & Grits with garlic parmesan grits and cajun shrimp, and the Victorian French Toast with brioche, cashew butter, blackberry compote and whipped cream.
The kitchen is led by Chef Lisa Rivera, a current competitor on Season 24 of Hell’s Kitchen – Battle of the States, representing the state of California. A California native with Cuban and Puerto Rican roots, Rivera brings a vibrant, personal approach to coastal dining, celebrating California’s agricultural bounty through fresh, seasonal dishes and collaborations with local farms and seafood vendors.
Whether it’s a weekend catch up with friends, a relaxed date or a celebratory gathering, The Victorian’s brunch offers a new way to experience one of Oceanside’s most stunning restaurants.
