Woman injured in collision with bicycle at Camino Del Mar

An El Segundo woman visiting the area with her husband was seriously injured May 31 when she was hit by a bicyclist in Del Mar, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported.

At 1:37 p.m., the 68-year-old woman and her husband were walking from the Holiday Inn Express at 621 South Highway 101 in Solana Beach to the Brigantine restaurant at 3263 Camino Del Mar in Del Mar, according to a Sheriff’s Department report.

The woman was hit by a cyclist as she entered the bicycle lane while the crosswalk signal was illuminated at Camino Del Mar and Border Avenue, the report stated. Upon impact, the woman was thrown into the air and landed on the left side of her head on concrete. She was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital where she was admitted to the trauma ward.
