Don’t get me wrong, I really do enjoy pumpkin and it’s employed in my kitchen in the fall and winter. But butternut squash is something I use all year because it doesn’t depend on heavy fall spices to lift the flavor. Pumpkin has to be gussied up, while butternut squash naturally can stand alone.

A man died at the scene of a car crash in Encinitas on Nov. 4, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported.

It was a City Council vote so important for Encinitas that even Sasquatch came out to plead the case. In a 4-1 decision Wednesday, Oct. 27, council members reinstated the city’s Holiday Parade.

Authorities have a suspect in custody after anticipating his arrival at a Solana Beach CVS Pharmacy based on armed robberies at drugstores in Carlsbad and Encinitas on Oct. 22, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported.
