Oceanside CA– Early this morning, September 22, 2014 at 12:41 a.m. officers responded to the San Luis Rey Mobile Home Park at 200 N. El Camino Real regarding the report of a structure fire.
Officers and members of the Oceanside Fire Department arrived. Nearby residences were evacuated. Fire fighters removed the body of a 71 year old female from the structure. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her adult nephew had escaped by jumping out one of the windows. Additional family members, who responded to the scene, have taken him in.
The initial investigation by OFD and OPD’s arson investigators indicates the deceased had been smoking in her room and likely fell asleep. No foul play or arson is suspected at this time.
Public notification of the identity of the deceased is pending the notification of the next of kin.
