What are cookies and beacons, and how are they used?

The North Coast Current participates in the following online advertising networks: Google Adsense, CJ Affiliate, ShareASale and Media Bids. The Current reserves advertising space on its website and related services from these networks, which are responsible for cultivating the ads.

Some of these advertising networks allow the Current and other advertisers to target ads to users through demographic, behavioral and other elements. These networks track a visitor’s online activities by collecting information through automated means when they visit the Current’s website and related services and third-party sites, applications and services, including through the use of cookies, Web beacons, Web server logs and other methods.

Some of these networks may place a persistent cookie on your computer. Doing this allows the network to recognize your computer each time it sends you an online advertisement. What information does the North Coast Current share?

North Coast Current website and service users can opt out of the following:

  • North Coast Current site and service users can unsubscribe from news and marketing emails sent by the Current. You can choose not to receive news and marketing email communications from the Current by clicking on the “Unsubscribe” link in the emails themselves or by adjusting your email application preferences (such as spam filters).
