Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego recently rolled its food truck, The Lunch Box, at the Oceanside Farmers Market.
This initiative, which launched in early April, is part of the club’s youth workforce development program and represents a step forward in providing job training, entrepreneurial experience, and essential meal services to the community.
The Lunch Box food truck is more than just a mobile kitchen—it’s a mission on wheels. In addition to being available for catering and special events such as corporate functions, birthday parties, and family gatherings, the truck plays a key role in the organization’s efforts to provide free meals to over 16,000 youth each year.
“We’re thrilled to see our vision in motion — literally,” organization CEO Marineke Vandervort said. “This food truck allows us to teach valuable skills to our teens while directly supporting our commitment to ending food insecurity for local youth.”
The program is made possible thanks to support from partners such as The Parker Foundation, the city of Oceanside and other community organizations.
