A motorcyclist died Oct. 29 after colliding with an automobile on North Melrose Drive in Vista, authorities reported.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. when the motorcyclist, who was riding northbound on North Melrose Drive, attempted to avoid a collision with an SUV that entered the road from westbound Dove Circle, according to a San Diego County Sheriff’s Office report. The rider hit the SUV and was thrown from the motorcycle, landing along the west curb of the southbound lanes.
Highway Patrol officers and sheriff’s deputies responded and administered CPR to the motorcyclist until Vista Fire Department responders arrived. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities reported.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
