An 85-year-old woman was hospitalized after being found unresponsive inside her Encinitas home July 4, prompting a suspicious-injury investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Fire personnel and paramedics responded July 4 to a residence in the 1000 block of C Street, where they found the woman inside the home, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. She was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Medical staff later discovered injuries they considered suspicious and notified law enforcement, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The woman’s condition worsened by July 5.
The sheriff’s Homicide Unit is investigating to determine how she sustained the injuries. Authorities did not release the woman’s name or provide further details about the nature of her injuries.
