Grocery Outlet Bargain Market’s new Encinitas store plans its grand opening for Thursday, Feb. 29, as management puts the final touches on the location.

“We are so excited to be a part of this small town big heart community,” store owner/operators Stefanie Droessler and Nikki Ames said in a social media post promoting the opening. “We open our doors to you all February 29th and we absolutely can not wait to serve you. Join us for grand opening and see all the amazing deals we’ll have to offer.”

The Encinitas store has created 32 jobs, according to Grocery Outlet Bargain Market.

The supermarket chain’s stores are locally owned, according to the company’s website. Grocery Outlet was founded in 1946 by Jim Read as Cannery Sales in San Francisco. There are now more than 450 stores across the United States. The chain is known for discounted prices on staple and specialty foods.

The Encinitas location, at 145 S. El Camino Real, had been occupied by 99 Cents Only since 2002. The site first housed a Miller’s Outpost clothing store starting in 1984.

Shoppers can enter to win $1,000 worth of groceries through the store’s opening promotion.

The store adds to a variety of supermarkets along the El Camino Real corridor in Encinitas: Sprouts Farmers Market, Ralphs, Trader Joe’s, Vons, Aldi and Stater Bros., in addition to supermarket sections in Target and Walmart.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market also has locations in Oceanside and San Marcos.
