Authorities continue to seek the public’s help to solve a fatal Encinitas hit-and-run case in which a suspect’s vehicle has now been identified, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office announced Feb. 26.
The collision between the vehicle and pedestrian occurred Jan. 19 just before 7 p.m., according to North Coastal Sheriff’s Station reports. The pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman, was struck by what is now identified as a 2019-2023 gray Audi Q3 in the 900 block of North Coast Highway 101. The woman was transported to a hospital, where she later died.
The driver involved in the incident stopped briefly at the scene but then left, the Sheriff’s Department reported. The vehicle may have damage to the lower-left front grille or missing parts in that area.
