Oceanside CA- A 5.1 magnitude earthquake, one of three quakes centered near La Habra on Friday, shook Southern California residents at 9:09 p.m.
The epicenter of the 5.1 earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 1.2 miles, was located three miles southwest of Rowland Heights and four miles north of Fullerton, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The M5.1 event was felt widely throughout Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino and north San Diego counties. It was preceded by two foreshocks, the larger of M3.6 at 8:03 p.m. The demonstration earthquake early warning system provided 4 second warning in Pasadena.
There have been 23 aftershocks as of 10:00 p.m., on March 28, the largest of which was a M3.6 at 9:30 p.m., and was felt locally near the epicenter. The aftershock sequence may continue for several days to weeks, but will likely decay in frequency and magnitude as time goes by.
A rock slide in Brea caused a rollover accident. There were two water main breaks in the City of Fullerton, south of the epicenter and reports of items thrown from store shelves and broken windows in Orange County. Power was out briefly for some residents in Orange County. In Oceanside, dogs barking and a clicking sound preceded the the rolling motion of the quake.
