Carlsbad CA- The City of Carlsbad released a brief recap of Poinsettia Fire:
100% contained as of Saturday at 5 p.m.
600 acres (original estimate of 400 acres was updated based on more accurate data)
Structural damage has not changed. Will get more exact information once additional inspections are completed. 16 structures total:
8 single family homes were destroyed or incurred substantial damage
3 single family homes sustained minor damage
1 multi-family 18-unit apartment building was destroyed
1 multi-family 18-unit apartment building incurred considerable damage (smoke and water)
2 commercial buildings destroyed/substantially damaged
1 modular building was destroyed (trailer at Aviara Park)
Preliminary value for structural damage is $10M to $15M

City Assistance
City has set up a phone number to help Carlsbad residents and businesses: 760-602-2740.
City’s Faraday Administration Center (1635 Faraday Ave.) will open at 7:30 to help fire victims.
City building officials have personally called owners of all damaged and destroyed structures to offer assistance.
City Building Division has assembled a team to help expedite processing of building permits and assist with other needs. City has already pulled the plans for damaged and destroyed structures so staff can be ready to help owners with rebuilding.
A list of resources is available at all city libraries and at the city website, www.carlsbadca.gov.
The City is asking residents to prepare. The best way people can help is to make sure they are prepared for the next emergency.

Cause: Still under investigation.
Death:
During a hot spot check, firefighters were alerted to a transient encampment in the area of Ambrosia and Calliandra. On checking the area, firefighters located a badly burned body. Further details about the deceased are unknown at this time and the investigation is ongoing. San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office is the contact for further info on identity and cause of death.
