La Mesa CA– This morning at about 2:30 a.m. on June 16, 2014, the victim’s vehicle was in the drive-thru lane of a McDonalds restaurant in unincorporated La Mesa waiting for a food order. Two vehicles pulled in behind the victim’s vehicle. A man exited one of the two vehicles and started banging on the windows of the restaurant and on the victim’s vehicle.
Two men got out of the victim’s vehicle and confronted the man who was banging on their car. The men got into an argument which then turned into a fight.
After the fight broke up, the two men got back into their vehicle and drove to their residence in the 3600 block of Avocado Village Court. The two other vehicles showed up at the complex and started revving their engines and squealing their tires in the driveway. One of the vehicles drove at the victim, who was on foot in the complex driveway. The vehicle swerved at the victim but did not hit him. The second vehicle swerved at the victim and also missed him, but then backed up and struck the victim, pinning him up against the building. After the victim was struck, both vehicles fled the scene.
The victim sustained life threatening injuries and is currently on life support at Sharp Memorial Hospital. The Sheriff’s Homicide Detail, Crime Laboratory, and Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station detectives are conducting the investigation.
