San Diego County CA— Due to heavy rains and thunderstorms forecast for the greater San Diego region tomorrow, which could create unsafe bike riding conditions across the county during the morning and afternoon commutes, SANDAG announced today that Bike to Work Day activities will be rescheduled from Friday, May 15, to Friday, May 29.
Should riders choose to continue with their plans to bike to work, they are asked to take extra safety precautions, and to be aware that no supporting pits stops will be available during the morning commute times of 6 to 9 a.m. on Friday, May 15.
While there will be a two-week delay of Bike to Work Day, SANDAG expects that the rescheduled event will include activities originally planned, including pit stops where riders can pick up a free T-shirt, snacks, and encouragement. Bike riders are advised to visit 511sd.com/iCommute for pit stops that will participate.
Bike riders are encouraged to follow the iCommute and SANDAG Facebook pages (iCommuteSD and SANDAGregion) and Twitter feeds (@iCommuteSD and @SANDAG) for updates.
