Oceanside CA— On Tuesday July 14, 2015, at 11:22 the Oceanside Police and Fire Departments responded to a radio call of a single vehicle Traffic Collision on East bound Mission Ave at Butler Street in Oceanside. The driver and single occupant lost control of her vehicle collided with a utility pole for high voltage electrical lines. One of the electrical lines broke and was on the ground.
The electrical line was burning the nearby ground. Oceanside Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the down power line was still live and the vehicle was still energized. The driver was not injured and the cause of the collision is still under investigation but a contributing factor was driver fatigue.

Eastbound Mission Ave was shut down for almost two hours. SDG&E responded and shutdown power in the area, for a short time, to fix the lines. Most of the power to the area was restored.
As of 3:30 am on Wednesday, SDG&E is still on scene working on the power lines.
