Oceanside CA— For the second time in as many days, firefighters from Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista along with North County, Cal Fire, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe and an air unit from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department battle a vegetation fire, west of College Boulevard and south of SR-78.

The fire burning in dense vegetation was hampering efforts to control the flames in the Buena Vista Creek bed, an area surrounded by construction grading.
A unit from the Vista Fire Department stood by on Vista Way in case the flames jumped the freeway from the approximately 4 acre fire.
Firefighters began a “firing out” operation at approximately 4:00pm and are in the process of mop-up operations.

Traffic was affected for east-bound SR-78 but congestion broke just past the incident. No reports of injuries, damage to structures or evacuations ordered.
