Oceanside CA— Jefferson Middle School Student, Danika Benson has been accepted into the prestigious California All State Honor Band. Danika will perform with the band on Valentines Day at the Performing Arts Center in San Jose.
Danika, an eight grader, has been playing the flute since fifth grade practicing at least an hour every day. Last night, Danika performed the piece she auditioned with, Scherzino by Joachim Anderson for the OUSD board members before their meeting. You can see that video below.
In addition to the flute, Danika plays the piccolo, cello and has taught herself how to play the clarinet.
Danika hasn’t limited herself to music however. She enjoys drawing and athletics participating in track and field, cheerleading and was on the cross country team.
“Danika is a great example of what a great school Jefferson is.” said her mother, Sara.
