Oceanside CA— Yesterday morning, Thursday March 9, 2017, Oceanside Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call of a medical aid in the 200 block of Windward Way. First responders discovered a 37-year-old male victim, identified as Jacob Laughlin Bravo, who had sustained obvious signs of traumatic injury. Bravo was pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:40pm, Oceanside Police received information which led to the identification of a suspect in the murder of Jacob Laughlin Bravo. Officers located the suspect, identified as Mikhail Schmidt, in the 900 block of The Strand and placed him into custody by 5 p.m.
Schmidt is a 30-year-old white male adult and an Oceanside resident. Schmidt is believed to be the sole suspect in this homicide investigation.
Due to the on-going investigation, the specific information is not being released at this time.
This was not a gang related incident. The motive for the crime is still being investigated.
