Oceanside CA— On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, Westminster Police detained two subjects attempting to pass stolen checks. A records check on the two, identified as Jereme Rasmussen and Kelsey Rasmussen (husband and wife), revealed they were wanted in connection with the murder of David Viars on January 1st in the 1100 block of North Coast Hwy in Oceanside.
Both individuals were identified by the Oceanside Police Departments Crimes of Violence Unit as suspects in this case and have been arrested.
January 1, 2018 at approximately 11:46 pm the Oceanside Police Department Dispatch received a radio call of a subject, Mr. Viars, who was located in the 1100 block of North Coast Highway with what appeared to be a stab wound to his body.
Oceanside Police Officers and Paramedics arrived on scene and began rendering medical aid. Mr. Viars was transported to a local area hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead by medical staff.
