The team was joined by a bike repairman, provided by the Community Resource Center, who taught them how to make minor repairs to the donated bikes. The bikes were loaded onto a trailer for transport to the Del Mar Fairgrounds where the CRC’s Holiday Baskets event took place December 14 to December 16.
Holiday Baskets provides a dignified and free shopping experience to over 6,000 individuals in need, including over 3,000 children, 300 seniors, and survivors of domestic violence. Participants can select blankets, outerwear, toys, infant and toddler items, bicycles and more. Each family also receives a 50-pound food box with all the fixings for a holiday meal, a chicken or turkey, fresh produce, and nutritious staples for two weeks.
On December 10, members of the SDA Boys Water Polo Team volunteered at the Del Mar Fairgrounds where they helped sort items in preparation for the CRC’s Holiday Baskets event.
