Harrah’s uses solar energy to heat its large pool and guest room showers, and has saved roughly $300K per year in energy costs. This year, the resort began outsourcing all laundry to save water and energy on property, with a projected 20 million gallons of water that will be saved by the end of 2019. The resort helps guests live greener by accommodating those who drive electric vehicles with a designated “green lot” that features charging stations.
Harrah’s Resort SoCal also works with Clean the World to recycle and donate toiletries to impoverished families in the Philippines, and has donated over 7,769 bars of soap since 2016. The resort also has a “tidy” program in Housekeeping for partial service in all standard rooms with no sheets changed unless requested. In addition, smaller but still very impactful efforts include installing rooms with low-flow shower heads and smart thermostats; serving vegetables from onsite gardens; sorting garbage for recyclables; and using LED light bulbs.
