Oceanside CA— At 6:49pm on Saturday, December 14, 2019, units from the Oceanside and Camp Pendleton Fire Departments responded to a reported vegetation fire at Highway 76 and Benet Road.
Upon arrival,Oceanside E217 confirmed a 40’ x 40’ vegetation fire with a slow rate of spread. Due to accessibility issues and a small explosion, possibly from a propane tank, E217 needed to reposition their apparatus causing a minor delay in initial firefighting efforts.
E217 took a forward tactical position and was supported by additional units for suppression efforts. Forward progress of the fire was halted by 7:20pm and units remained on scene for an additional forty five minutes for overhaul of the scene.
There were no injuries to any firefighters on this incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
