San Marcos CA— TrueCare™, a North County nonprofit healthcare provider, is rolling out its new Mobile Wellness Unit to bring quality healthcare services directly to North San Diego’s diverse communities starting this weekend, August 14.
TrueCare and Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos invite kids and families in the community to receive free healthcare services, activities and education for the entire family during its inaugural Flapjacks for Backpacks event on Aug. 14, 7 a.m.-11 a.m., at 1 Positive Place in San Marcos.

TrueCare’s new state-of-the-art Mobile Wellness Unit is meeting the community where they are and will be onsite during the event to help make health accessible to all. Kids and families can receive free dental screenings, oral hygiene cleaning demonstrations for the kids, chiropractic education, blood pressure checks for adults, free COVID-19 vaccines, and games and prizes! TrueCare is also donating 250 backpacks to the Boys & Girls Club to help kids be prepared for going back to school.

Designed to engage and prepare families for the new school year in a fun-filled, informational, and collaborative space, the Flapjacks for Backpacks event will also feature free back-to-school resources from local businesses and organizations, offering new backpacks and school supplies for kids, health screenings, and other valuable resources. Additionally, the event will include a pancake breakfast fundraiser, held in collaboration with the San Marcos Fire Department, to benefit the Club’s afterschool scholarship fund and to ensure that cost is not a barrier for families in need of the organization’s youth programs and services.
“We realize that bringing better health access to our community is a two-way street. It’s not solely the responsibility of our patients to come to us. It’s really about collectively, how we can bring health to them,” added Gonzalez. “And rest assured, we are only getting started… this mobile unit represents the first of more to come.”
